Water Softeners
In hard water areas it is always advised that a water softener is fitted to prevent calcium
build-up and detergent breakdown.
Operating Instructions:
Figure 1 shows the softener in normal use. The hose from water supply tap goes to connection A
and the hose to the machine from connection B.
To Regenerate:
1. 1. Make sure E and F can drain into a sink or an appropriate container.
2. 2. Push levers C and D in a clockwise direction to the position shown in figure 2.
approximately 1 pint of water will be discharged under pressure through tube E
3. 3. Undo large nut G, withdraw bridge, remove lid and pour approximately 1.5 pints of salt onto the brown resin contained within the
softener.
4. 4. Replace the lid, making sure that the gasket is clean and free from salt, tighten
down.
5. 5. Push lever C back to the position shown in figure 3. Water will flow from tube F.
allow to run for approximately 20 minutes until the water no longer tastes salty.
6. Push lever D back to position shown in figure 1.Regeneration is now complete.
Warning: do not remove the brown resin from inside the water softener.
